Membership

Information

Individual Membership is $25.00 and open to individual museum professionals who perform registrarial functions for institutions in the twelve states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Benefits include:

  • SERA News, the Association's newsletter, which contains topical articles, meeting and workshop reviews, regional updates, and SERA’s business notes

  • Participation and voting privileges at SERA’s annual business meeting (held each October in conjunction with the Southeastern Museums Conference)

  • Discounts on publications produced by SERA

  • Advance notification of SERA-sponsored workshops

  • The opportunity to network with other registrars and museum professionals in the region

  • Access to Members Only sections of SERA's website, where you'll find information on hard-to-find resources, job and internship listings, organizational records, and back issues of SERA News.

Associate Membership is $25.00 and is open to individuals within and outside SERA’s twelve-state region who have an interest in supporting the objectives of SERA. These members receive all SERA benefits mentioned above except for voting privileges. 

Institutional Membership is $75.00 and is open to institutions within and outside SERA’s twelve-state region who have an interest in supporting the objectives of SERA. Up to seven individuals at a member institution will receive all SERA benefits mentioned above.

Student Membership is $15.00 and is open to students within and outside SERA’s twelve-state region who have an interest in supporting the objectives of SERA. These members receive all SERA benefits mentioned above

Paid members are able to apply for any of the scholarships listed below by clicking the linked form and following the directions on the form. Members that have won awards are able to reapply to win additional scholarships after three years, in line with our bylaws.

Dan Silosky Award Application Email

Award Amount: $250

Announcement of Winners: November 14, 2023

Requirements: SERA Member, 5+ years in the field in the Southeastern United States, two letters of support/Nomination including name, address, phone number, and email of the nominee and both nominators. The letters should include a summary of the nominee's accomplishments and an explanation of why they are outstanding in the field.

 

This annual award recognizes an individual registrar or collections professional for their outstanding contribution to the field and honors long-time SERA member Dan Silosky.  He is remembered for his dedication to the profession, witty outlook on life, and love of scholarship.  A vital member of SERA, he served as the corresponding secretary (1984-1988), was the West Virginia State Representative, and chaired the 1992 Membership Survey.​
